SACRED SERIES on acrylic

These paintings are doorways to spirits. Painted by a vitki (an Old Norse word for a particular type of shaman): a woman who works with spirits and has the thundering roar of a God in her head, each painting represents a protective ancestor, a technician of the holy, or a story charm, all from the lands of the North and sometimes elsewhere too, coming through in the crucible of art in order to protect, to open the door to blessings, to bring the whispering touch of the holy to those willing and courageous enough to accept it. These paintings are mandalas, doorways, and each figure is alive. This is their purpose:  just as art has the power to elevate our souls, so each of these paintings, poured out onto canvas, is imbued with a living spirit charged with healing the world. They do this by opening a doorway to that which is holy. They are alive. They are power. They represent a lineage of the sacred stretching back to the neolithic. These paintings speak like the drum of the shaman. They speak like the drum that roars.
